Players invited to TA trials & current TA players
Just to really drive home England Hockey’s stance on grassroots hockey—especially County hockey—they’ve generously allocated every single Sunday in September to TA Trials. Every. Single. One. (Draft Calendar as at April 2025)
And as a delightful afterthought, they’ve wedged in two County dates right in the middle of all that TA action. Naturally, these clash spectacularly with the trials, making it as tricky as possible to manage the players who want to have a shot at the TA but still keep their County options open.
In Hampshire we have a rule that nobody gets into the county team (AC) without getting assessed. It doesn't matter if you were in the squad last year, or if you're a gold medal holder, you need to attend the assessments. This ensures our system remains fair and equitable and allows us to identify talent at every level of the pathway and at every stage of a player's development.
Hampshire will be running their AC Assessments on the EH appointed County dates of 14 & 21 September 2025, but we will organise our first squad training date in October which will probably have to be a Friday- or mid-week evening.
So. if you are a past Hampshire DC, AC or PC player and currently involved in the TA trails, or nominated for TA trials in September 2025, but still want to keep the option open to be assessed for the Hampshire 2025-2026 AC, please fill in the form below.
By registering we will know that you are interested in attending the assessments but are likely to miss them due to TA activity. Once the coach contacts you ahead of the assessments, please make them aware of your situation and then keep in touch and keep us up to date with developments.
This way the coach will know he or she will need to defer the final selection decision until the first training session in order to leave space for you should you be successful.
U17 Players (not currently in any centre)
The U17 DC is 'optional' meaning that players born between 01 Sep 2008 - 31 August 2009 are not obliged to do the DC, even if they still want to be considered for the 2025 AC assessments.
